    LOCAL RAPID RECOVERY PLAN The Internationally recognized Local Rapid Recovery Plan (LRRP) Program was a statewide project to revitalize downtowns, respond to the effects of COVID-19 on local businesses, and prioritize actions and strategies in 2021. Favermann Design worked on 11 of the 124 plans for cities and towns. It was focused on providing every municipality in Massachusetts the opportunity to develop actionable, project-based recovery plans tailored to the unique economic challenges and COVID-19 related impacts to downtowns, town centers, and commercial areas across the commonwealth.     HARVARD UNIVERSITY Over the last few decades, Harvard University has expanded its real estate holdings into the Boston neighborhood of Allston just across the Charles River from the traditional Harvard Campus. Favermann Design was enlisted to be part of a design and planning team to explore ways in which to connect the emerging Allston Campus with the Cambridge campus. Various transportation connections and directional communications systems were studied. Accessible and strategic mobility hubs were the focus of planning consideration. Back to MP/SP

    FLOATING LEAF Favermann Design has been involved in a number of design competitions over the years. Often, these are creative exercises to add to the urban fabric. An example of this firm practice is this proposal for a pavilion for the famous Swan Boats at Boston’s Public Garden, Additionally, there was a smaller structure designed to cover a functional stem pipe.   • MasterCaro | FAVERMANN DESIGN

    THE YORK SCULPTURES The York Sculptures were made by the English sculptor Sir Anthony Caro in the spring and summer of 1974 at York Steel Construction Ltd. in York, Ontario, just outside Toronto. Of the thirty-seven multi-ton pieces that Caro made at York, twenty-three were shown in this exhibition, which was organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston at the Christian Science Center Plaza. Favermann Design was involved in logistics, shipping between Canada and the US, site planning and sculpture placement. A master plan scale model was built prior to the outdoor exhibition.     Back to HOME MASTERPLAN 2020 Esplanade Vision 2020 was a masterplan for restoration and renewal of the over 100 year old linear park along the Charles River. Mark Favermann was one of the major authors of the award-winning study.     NEWS Favermann Design has been designated as a Veteran Business Enterprise (VBE) by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. “The Birds of Audubon Circle,” part of the City of Boston’s Public Art Collection, was installed 20 years ago in 2005. 2025 was the 24th Season that Favermann Design has been a consultant to the Boston Red Sox. Mark Favermann received the Journalism and Communications Award for his decades of writing on the built environment and Public Art from the American Planning Association, Massachusetts Chapter in 2024.     CITY OF EVERETT The City of Everett is going through a major revitalization. To underscore this, Favermann Design developed a best practices guidelines to storefront signs and façade improvements for city’s commercial districts.
