WELLS For Wells, Maine, Favermann Design was commissioned to develop a unique approach to community branding, wayfinding and public art. The town situated between both Ogunquit and Kennebunkport, ME is a beach and fishing community with no true downtown. This project gave identity and direction to the community. COMMUNITY BRANDING Community Branding allows for enhancing the urban fabric. By adding visual quality and elegant function, it also fixes the holes and tears in the civic tapestry. The process of Community Branding emphasizes distinctiveness, projecting a positive image, while providing a shared sense of arrival and a sense of place. It allows people to be connected to not only location but to experience. More than simply an identity or image, Community Branding underscores the unique character and personality of a particular place as well as strategically informs creative placemaking. 1/5 THE TOWN OF EASTHAM, MA With its beautiful vistas, lovely homes and institutional buildings, the American master Edward Hopper painted many pictures of the Town of Eastham, MA, a very picturesque seaside community on Upper Cape Cod. As a project of the Massachusetts Downtown Initiative (MDI), Favermann Design worked with the community to create a brand image and apply it to wayfinding, sign elements as well as social media. Depicted are the historic and beautiful Nauset Light, oil house and lightkeeper's home from 1923 overlooking the coastal waters. Back to Portfolio
